Lemon Ginger Tea Recipe

Food preparation (1-2 servings):

  1. 30-50g ginger (approximately 3-4 slices, adjusted according to taste)
Half a lemon (about 20 milliliters of juice, a small amount of fruit pulp can be retained)
  2. 2-3 tablespoons of honey (adjusted according to sweetness preference, brown sugar can also be used as a substitute)
  3. 500ml of clean water
  4. Optional ingredients: mint leaves (add fragrance), red date slices (add sweetness and nutrition)

Production steps:

Processing ginger

Wash the ginger and peel it, then cut it into thin slices or shreds (shredding makes it more flavorful).

If you like a stronger spicy flavor, you can add more ginger slices; If you prefer a mild taste, reduce the dosage.

Boiling ginger tea

Add water and sliced ginger to the pot, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes until the ginger flavor is fully released and the soup turns light golden yellow.

Add lemon

After turning off the heat, immediately squeeze in lemon juice and add a small amount of lemon flesh (to avoid damaging vitamin C during prolonged high temperature cooking).
If brown sugar is used, it can be added in this step and stirred until completely melted.
Seasoning and settling

When the temperature drops to around 50 ℃ (not too hot), add honey and stir evenly (high temperature can damage the nutrition of honey).
Cover the pot and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to fully blend the flavors.
Filtration and Drinking
Filter out the ginger slices and lemon pomace through a filter (or keep the ingredients directly), and pour them into a cup.
Garnish with a slice of lemon or mint leaf, and drink hot.

Tip:
Taste adjustment

Spiciness: Ginger cooked with skin on is spicier, while peeled is softer; The longer the cooking time, the stronger the spiciness.
Sourness and sweetness: The amount of lemon and honey can be adjusted according to personal taste. If you like sour and sweet flavors, you can add more lemon juice.
Drinking timing
It is recommended to drink ginger tea in the morning or noon. Ginger tea is warm in nature, and excessive consumption at night may affect sleep.
Suitable for warming up and drinking during the early stages of a cold, stomach discomfort, or cold weather.
Storage
The best taste is freshly brewed and consumed. The remaining ginger tea can be sealed and refrigerated for 1 day. Heat it before drinking, but it is not recommended to heat it repeatedly.
Advanced approach
Red date lemon ginger tea: When boiling ginger, add 3-5 nucleated red dates to increase the nourishing effect.
